New to Medical Cannabis?
Step 1: See a Certified Doctor
You must first have an in-person evaluation with us. The doctor will review your medical history and confirm a qualifying condition. If approved, the doctor will immediately enter your information into the state database.
Step 2: Access the Registry Website
Once the doctor enters your profile, the Florida Office of Medical Marijuana Use (OMMU) will automatically send you two emails. One alerts you that your account is created, and the second contains a temporary password.

Username: Your username is the exact email address you provided to your doctor.
Step 3: Complete Your Online Application
Log in to the Registry website using your temporary password and create a permanent one.
Navigate to the "Your Card" or "Patient Card" tab.
Verify your personal information.
Upload a clear, digital copy of your Florida driver's license or photo ID to prove residency.
Supply a passport-style photo (the system will often pull this automatically from the Florida DMV).
Type your name at the bottom of the page to digitally sign the application.
Step 4: Submit Payment to the State
The state of Florida charges a mandatory annual application fee. This fee goes directly to the state and is completely separate from what you pay your clinic.
State Fee: $75.00
Online Processing Fee: A $2.75 convenience fee is added for online transactions, making the online total $77.75.
How to Pay: Scroll to the payment section within the online portal and pay securely using a credit card, debit card, or electronic check. Online payment is highly recommended for the fastest processing times.
Alternative Payment: If you cannot pay online, you can mail a check or money order payable to the Florida Department of Health to their Tampa processing address, though this slows down approvals by several weeks.
Step 5: Receive Your Approval
The OMMU typically takes 5 to 10 business days to process online payments and approve your application. As soon as you are approved, you will receive a temporary approval email. You can print this email or show it on your phone to immediately purchase medication at any licensed Florida dispensary while you wait for your physical card to arrive in the mail.
